In the afternoon of September 19th, Our College had an orientation ceremony to welcome international students. The President, Professor Yang Zhen was part of this occasion and the program was hosted by the Vice–President, Professor Zhang Zhihua. Participants included all of the 2014 academic year’s International students and students' assistants from College of Overseas Education.
The President, Professor Yang Zhen delivered a speech on behalf of teachers and students giving international students who came from all over the world a warm welcome, stating that NJUPT will provide foreign students with a conductive learning and living environment, creating a fine atmosphere for foreign students’ growth and talent development.
The Professor additionally offered the following advice to the foreign students;
Firstly, he admonished the foreign students to study Chinese carefully, and have a knowledge of Chinese ancient culture which will create more opportunities for them and help widen their understanding and knowledge of the eastern world.
Secondly, they should adjust and integrate themselves quickly in the university. Students must have mutual understanding, respect, tolerate and support other students to collectively make progress.
Lastly, he advised students to make very good use of their time, be diligent and study hard while experiencing Chinese traditional culture and most importantly become ambassadors between China and their countries. This to him can be achieved through affability between each other.
A continuing student representative, LOEMBE SOUAMY expressed his sincere gratitude to the school authorities for the friendly environment and good teaching conditions they provided. Whiles sharing his study life experience with new students, he mentioned he had had a wonderful year in Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication. He added that the other students were friendly, teachers enthusiastic and course organization very rich.
Dr. Shao Xi who is also a teacher from School of Information and Communications Engineering gave an advice on how overseas students spend rich and colorful college life on behalf of the teachers. He admonished that everyone could make full use of resources, time and stay focused to achieve their goal. He wished all overseas students have a memorable period in NJUPT.
The new student representative ANDREW SILA gave his first impression about the schools structures and facilities. He added that NJUPT provides a good education for overseas students; therefore students must cherish the opportunity and study hard. He said “Although we have different culture backgrounds, we hope we hope we can have a knowledge of Chinese culture in China; we are devoted and committed to the communication between China and our respective countries”
