NOTICE ON CHINESE COURSE PLACEMENT RESULTS, COURSE SELECTION, AND EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR 2026 INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENTS
Based on the results of the Chinese Proficiency Test held on September 7, 2026, we are pleased to announce the placement outcomes. Please refer to the attached table for your assigned level.
1. Placement Results and Course Selection Requirements
You must select your Chinese courses strictly according to your placement level as follows:
Placement Level | Semester 1 Course | Semester 2 Course |
Elementary | Elementary Chinese 1 | Elementary Chinese 2 |
Intermediate | Intermediate Chinese 1 | Intermediate Chinese 2 |
If you did not take the Chinese Proficiency Test, you will be placed in the Elementary level by default. If you believe your level should be reconsidered, you may follow the transfer application procedure described in Section 2 below.
2. Application for Level Transfer
If you wish to request a change of level, you may submit a transfer application within two weeks after the course starts to your Chinese language teacher. The teacher will review your request and submit the final list of approved transfers to the Academic Affairs Office. The office will then process the changes accordingly.
3. Exemption Application
Chinese language courses follow an“exemption without waiver of examination”policy. Students who wish to apply for exemption must take the exemption test, which will be organized during the first Chinese class. The final decision on whether to approve the exemption will be based on the test results. Those who do not take or do not pass the exemption test are required to follow their placement and take the regular Chinese courses accordingly.
Please check your placement result promptly and complete the required actions as outlined above. If you have any questions, please contact the Academic Affairs Office at B1-500(11).
