Notice on Completing the Thesis Defense and Degree Application for Master’s Degree Candidates in 2026-2027-1 semester

To all colleges:

According to the arrangements for graduate training, the university will recently organize the thesis defense and degree application work for master’s degree candidates in the second half of 2026. This work is mainly intended for master’s students enrolled in 2023 and previous cohorts who have not yet graduated. The specific arrangements are notified as follows:

I. Graduation Qualification Review

The Graduate School will conduct a graduation qualification review for master’s students enrolled in 2023 and previous cohorts who have not yet graduated. Those who pass the review may proceed to the thesis similarity check.

II. Thesis Similarity Check

Colleges will organize and accept thesis similarity checks for graduate students. Students are requested to submit an electronic version of their thesis before the deadline and have their supervisor complete the online review.

III. Thesis Review

According to the Revised Measures of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications for the Review of Master’s Degree Theses, all students applying for this thesis defense must undergo a university-level anonymous review. The Graduate School will organize the submission of master’s degree theses for review. Students are requested to submit their theses for anonymous review and complete the information filling before the deadline. (Note: The thesis review period is generally about 2–3 weeks.)

IV. Registration of Research Achievements

All graduate students must register in the graduate system all research achievements obtained during their studies. These will be reviewed by supervisors and colleges. Paper materials must also be submitted to colleges for review.

V. Degree Conferral Information Filling

Graduate students shall log into the graduate system to complete the degree conferral information. The relevant information will be used to report the individual’s degree conferral information to the Ministry of Education. Students must fill it in carefully and truthfully.

VI. Thesis Defense

Graduate students shall submit an application for thesis defense in the graduate system. Only after approval by the supervisor and college may they proceed to the formal defense. Students are requested to complete their thesis defense and submit relevant materials to their college by November 23.

VII. Review by Degree Evaluation Sub-Committees

Each degree evaluation sub-committee shall convene a meeting to review graduate students’ degree applications. Relevant materials shall be submitted to the Graduate School by December 2.

VIII. Approval by the University Degree Evaluation Committee

The university plans to hold a meeting of the University Degree Evaluation Committee in mid-to-late December to approve the list of degree recipients.

All graduate training units are requested to carefully organize the thesis defense and degree application work for master’s students in the second half of 2026, notify relevant supervisors and students as early as possible to make preparations, and carry out thesis defense and degree application work as required.
