To all colleges:
In accordance with the Working Rules for the Conferral of Academic Master’s Degrees of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the Working Rules for the Conferral of Professional Master’s Degrees of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the Assessment Measures for Master’s Degree Thesis Proposals of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the relevant matters concerning the thesis proposal work for 2025 master’s degree candidates are hereby notified as follows:
I. Scope of Thesis Proposals
2025 full-time master’s students, part-time master’s students, and previous master’s students who have not yet completed their thesis proposals.
II. Thesis Proposal Requirements
The thesis proposal work for master’s degree theses shall be specifically implemented by each college, which shall organize an expert group to review and assess the thesis proposal reports.
For thesis proposals of students supervised by new supervisors (those supervising their first or second cohort of master’s students), each college must organize an expert group to conduct a thesis proposal defense inspection. The expert group shall consist of no fewer than three graduate supervisors, and the group leader shall generally be a graduate supervisor who has had at least two cohorts of graduates. The supervisor must attend the thesis proposal defense of the student(s) they supervise, but shall not serve as a member of the expert group.
For thesis proposals of students supervised by other supervisors, the format shall be determined by each college itself. Colleges are encouraged to organize thesis proposals in a unified manner.
III. Work Schedule
Graduate students shall complete and submit the thesis proposal information online before November 2, 2026, and submit a paper copy of the thesis proposal report (one copy per person) to their college. For students who fail to complete the thesis proposal on time, their thesis defense time will be postponed accordingly.
Each college shall, in accordance with the Assessment Measures for Master’s Degree Thesis Proposals of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (Xiao Yan Fa [2014] No. 14), organize an expert group to review and assess the thesis proposal reports, enter the assessment results online before November 20, 2026, and submit the summary table of thesis proposal assessment results to the Degree Office of the Graduate School for record. Please carefully check whether the information filled in the materials and the relevant signatures and seals are complete and fully provided.
After completing the assessment, each college must promptly provide feedback on the assessment results to the graduate students.
If a graduate student receives a grade of C or below in one or more assessment items, they must revise the thesis proposal report. The revision period shall be no less than 15 days. After obtaining the supervisor’s approval, they shall fill in the thesis proposal progress assessment report in the system and submit a paper version to the college.
If a graduate student receives a grade of D or below in one or more assessment items, they must comprehensively revise the thesis proposal report. The revision period shall be no less than 45 days. After the student applies and the supervisor agrees, they shall fill in the thesis proposal progress assessment report in the system and submit a paper version to the college.
IV. Submission of Thesis Proposal Assessment Results
Each college’s teaching secretary shall enter the thesis proposal results online within the prescribed time, and submit the summary table of graduate thesis proposal assessment results (one copy, signed and sealed by the college) to the Degree Office of the Graduate School. (The thesis proposal reports of graduate students (one copy per person) shall be kept by each college.)
